Hot shop

Last week I was working in the hot shop with my co-worker Julia, we were working on fire polishing planters and vases. Fire polishing gets a jagged edge away and leaves it smooth, the process of what we did was.....
1.Made a puntie (a glass term for a small nub on the end of a pipe so we can pick up another piece of glass) in Remarks studio we use bottle necks to make them and form them into a cutip shape
2. Julia takes the pipe with the glass bit on the end as I open the kiln and stabs the back of a piece of a bottle which has its bottom down to make it easy to pick up. We bring it right to  the glory hole where we heat the piece mostly at the top just to make it smooth
3. She brings it back to the bench and touches it just the slightest bit to make sure we don't lose its perfect cylinder shape.
4.Makes sure to heat it just a little more to get it off the pipe.
5. Bunks it off the puntie.
6 . Assistant (me at the time) takes torch to bottom and stamps it with Remark logo.
7. Puts on kevlar gloves loads it back into kiln.
