Introduction

Hi everyone,

My name is Madison Mayhew and I am going into my sophomore year at Uarts. I am a sculpture major and am trying to figure out whether or not I want a minor in art therapy. My alumni-host is Abbie Kasoff. She is the founder of Say It With Clay, which is a clay therapy organization. The organization is a non-profit that works with children, adults, people with disabilities, marriage counseling and hold many different fun camps and classes. 
This summer I will have the opportunity to work at Say It With Clay two days a week and will get to assist during the children’s summer camp as well as have the opportunity to go on field work with different staff members. While there I will get to understand one of the areas that a art therapist can work. I will also begin to understand exactly what art therapists do. 
Im really excited to just be surrounded by different artists who are just looking to help people. I think that this will really help me grow and begin to understand what it is that I want to do in the future.


P.S. Im allowed to use the clay studio and all of the supplies for free! I’m really excited.

So for my first shoot, I was lucky enough to help assist on set for the SLAM Magazine cover with Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons. For my first shoot since starting this fellowship I have to say this was possibly an once in a lifetime opportunity and I was more than thrilled to be on set. Week 3 Art Restoration with Kat and Megan

Week 3 The UArts alumnus I’m working for is Megan Becker, who pursued the same internship program I’m part of when she was an Illustration student at the university. She has been the one handing me an airbrush and letting me (tentatively) try my hand at stain remediation for water damaged pieces. Megan and I are a good alum-student match because of our shared interest in illustration, and quieter introverted nature. Although Megan’s and my art is very different, we share an understanding for visual meaning and narrative.  The weeks at ART are fairly reliable work-load wise, but on Wednesdays we get to do something a little different. Megan teaches art classes for young students directly after work on Wednesday, so she takes me with her to where her classes are. Of course, I can’t roam around aimlessly while she works, so I take her car to Dunkin Donuts and sit outside, sipping a black coffee and reading The Sandman, volume 5. Introduction

Yo!!!!!! My name is Malik Murray, I am a rising junior photography major. I am more than excited to be working under Uarts Alumni Lou Caltabniano and John Pushnick. I started actually a little before the school year ended. So far it has been fun and a great learning experience. I'll be getting into detail on some of the shoots I have worked on so far with the guys in later post but so far I have traveled to NJ, Baltimore, and of course Philly for some really dope stuff.
