Slam Magazine Cover Shoot

So for my first shoot, I was lucky enough to help assist on set for the SLAM Magazine cover with Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons. For my first shoot since starting this fellowship I have to say this was possibly an once in a lifetime opportunity and I was more than thrilled to be on set. I was able to learn more about strobes and working with big name clients. I even got a SLAM magazine t-shirt!

    One of the kids in my class is obsessed with Ben Simmons, that's a hilarious coincidence. She's convinced they're dating.

    Are there particular challenges present when working with big name clients, rather than any others?

      I am so sorry for the late reply, It really depends and I'll actually make a post about it going more in detail but it really depends on the client and their attitude towards the shoot itself.

Last Week with Kat and Megan

Last week!! During my last week at Art Restoration Technologies, I got sick and had to go home early. I was so sad to miss out on my last days there! Regardless, I did get to do some fun stuff before wrapping up my internship with Megan. We had two large candelabras to clean, sort of Beauty and the Beast style, curving sterling silver centerpieces with five candle holders per piece. The silver was tarnished, so I took almost an entire day cleaning one of the very heavy candelabras with silver polish. It was such a large task, that even by the end of the day I hadn’t finished it. It was fun work though, and very satisfying to watch the dull, dark metal become bright and shining. That day, Sherry ran out for coffee and picked us up some soy lattes, which was quite the treat during work. Travel to the JCC

We got to visit the JCC (Jewish Community Center) in Mullica Hill. I had the opportunity to make slab bowls with senior citizens. It was me, my boss Abbie and her two kids, Lacey and Sydney who went on the travel. The travel started at 10:30 and ended at 12. We have 42 pieces made and the place was packed. We started off where all four of us went to different tables and demonstrated how to make a slab bowl. You start off with wedging your clay. Then you roll out your clay with a rolling pin. We hand each person a plastic bowl that is covered in parchment paper. After the clay is rolled into a slab, they flip there plastic bowl over and trace the edge on the bowl. Then you place the clay inside the bowl. After that they can begin designing. We brought different cookie cutters so that everyone can add different shapes to there bowl if they choose.
